As usual, your writing style is flawless, there's one strange word I need to look up and some random comment (in this case, Alexander the Great's homosexuality) that made me research and end up on some far off topic like a roman à clef based on a popular 19th century married writer's homosexual misadventure.

The only thing that I found hard to concede was the fact that while the Major had clearly changed, Dorian was still the same. That clear unbalance bothered me. I would expect that if Dorian managed to get the Major to admit his feelings, he had to have changed somewhat too. No way would the Major have fallen for him like he did in this story if Dorian had remained the way he is. This is just my opinion.
